Just had a look online at Christopher Kanes collection, and what remarkable work it is. Completely engaging, and an extension in a way of his spring 2007 show, in Holland Park, with the decoration. Except now the clothes, and the thinking behind it, seems far more sophisticated and new. I was struck by exits #7, 12, 14 and 18, particularly the silver-black dress with lines that suggest suspension cables, like a Calatrava bridge.

I wondered to what extent Marc Jacobs loose shapes from last season opened up some thinking, and of course now I wish Jacobs had stayed a little closer to that shape. Anyway, Kane stands on his own with this collection. As for Marios Schwab, some of the early looks are a bit belaboredideas in transit perhapsbut exits #10 and 11, which appear to embroidered or baked with gold leaf, are extremely well-done and conceptually on the right track.
